You're Not Listening by Kate Murphy

Thanks to @librofm, Kate Murphy, and @macmillan.audio for the ALC! You're Not Listening: What You're Missing and Why It Matters should be required reading. In it, Murphy (journalist and by extension, professional listener) delves into evidence, both research based and anecdotal, that explains why we are facing a crisis of listening. Listening has been lost to the barrage of constant stimulation, the push for self-promotion and branding, and the age of social media. We talk more than ever, but listen even less. Beyond proving her thesis, Murphy provides insight into why strengthening our ability to listen is so vital, along with strategies for becoming a better listener. If you're even a little interested, I strongly recommend you give this one a listen (too much?? 🤣).
