The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
Remember when we used to go out to eat? Yeah, me either.

Okay. So. The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. This book is a part of the canon, and it's clear why. Morrison is a masterful storyteller who crafts a scathing allegory about society's perception of beauty that is stunningly written. But the abuse in this book makes it difficult to read, and I struggled to connect to this book emotionally. This is a book I want to return to down the road, having mentally prepared for the experience, with the hope that it will change my perspective.
