Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin

I've had this book on my TBR pile since @theliteraryheroine made me buy it, and when @geronimoreads decided to host a buddy read, I knew it was finally time to pick it up! I don't reach for fantasy, but I'm open to it, if enough Trusted Readers™ tell me I need it *cough* Daughter of Smoke and Bone *cough*⠀

Serpent and Dove was a freaking delight, y'all. It took me about a hundred pages to really get into it, but once I did, I was IN. TO. IT. I loved the foul mouthed, scrappy, sticky bun loving Lou and the principled, passionate, and protective Reid. We got just enough world building to build a foundation for the second book, which I cannot wait to get my hands on when it publishes later this year!
