The Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene
We had a delightful, virus free chat yesterday thanks to @emileereadsbooks and the #NancyDrewBookCrew! We read and discussed Book 2 in the series: The Hidden Staircase. It was interesting to track the evolution of Nancy's detective reputation, in what felt like a more mature version of her than in The Secret of the Old Clock. There were certainly things that made me laugh as I was reading: Nancy's complete disinterest in her date, the bizarre consumption of gelatin (can we tell this edition was published in the 1950s?!), but there were heart warming moments too, such as those between Nancy and Hannah, her housekeeper and maternal figure. I wasn't sure after book 1 if I would want to continue the series, but now I'm interested to see how Nancy evolves with each adventure!
