You may or may not know that I love weird books, and Switch by A.S. King definitely qualifies. If you’re okay with not understanding what’s going on approximately 85% of the time, then look no further! 🤣 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This book, dedicated to the class of 2020, hits intentionally close to home as MC Tru struggles in a world where time stopped on June 23, 2020. Time stopped, but life went on - and Tru doesn’t understand what it means, why everyone has stopped giving a shit about everyone else, and what the switch her father is obsessed with hiding in their house has to do with all of it. While grappling with the whole TIME thing, Tru is also dealing with her family, which is coming apart at the seams because of her sister, who no one talks about. Add abstract/surrealist weirdness and you’ve got a typical A.S. King novel! While I can’t say this has replaced Dig as my favorite book of hers, I am looking forward to reading the other two books of hers on my TBR before I add them to my classroom library! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: sexual abuse, psychopathic tendencies, parental neglect ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding a kindle displaying the ebook cover of Switch. My hand is upside down, but the book is right side up, which is a play on the houses in various orientations depicted on the book cover. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CQvpPrZLnuf/
