Look at this amazing book no one’s ever heard of! 🤣 But seriously though, I loved Emily Henry’s Beach Read when I read it a few weeks ago, and have been anxiously awaiting the publication of People We Meet on Vacation. PWMOV alternates between the past, where best friends Poppy, a travel writer, and Alex, an English teacher 🙌🏻, are generally adorable and peak friendship goals, and the present, where they don’t speak following a rift in their friendship. The chapters that take place in the past move closer and closer to the present, each unfolding a different piece of their relationship and helping us to understand what went wrong. Henry writes contemporary fiction like no one else. I love her characters and settings, and Poppy and Alex (and their friends and family) are no exception. I love everything about this book from the dedication, to the banter, to the Beach Read Easter egg, to the way in which it addresses dropping out of college, leaving a small town, and normalizing therapy, anxiety, and grief. Poppy is someone who feels too loud and too much and too lonely and I love seeing the people in her life embrace her. Alex is someone who feels too awkward and too anxious and too safe and I love seeing the people in his life embrace him. Basically, I adore and will read anything Emily Henry writes and need her to start working on her next book immediately! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding a kindle displaying the ebook cover of People We Meet on Vacation.
