How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams is a contemporary romance that follows Naya, a badass academic teaching math in higher ed, as she struggles to put herself back out there in the aftermath of an abusive relationship. Enter Jake: cute, charming, and the perfect person for Naya to dust off her flirting skills with - until things go off script. I loved their dynamic, loved the representation of a multi-racial woman (Black and Mexican) in STEM, and loved a story that focused on a survivor reclaiming her confidence and her life. Be mindful of trigger warnings before picking this one up! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: domestic violence (physical and emotional abuse, attempted assault) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: A kindle displaying the ebook cover of How to Fail at Flirting sits on a white shelf.
