A Scot in the Dark by Sarah MacLean is the second book in the Scandal and Scoundrel series, and this one follows King’s best friend Alec! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After seventeen other men die, the “diluted duke” Alec inherits several things he doesn’t want - including responsibility for a beautiful ward, Lily, who he wants to get married off as soon as possible. After all, “Nothing made a bad day worse like a beautiful Englishwoman.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Both our hero and heroine are dealing with betrayal by someone they believed loved them, which brings them together in unexpected ways. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love how the Talbot sisters immediately take Lily under their wing. The chaotic family vibes are one of my favorite things about MacLeans series, which all have overlapping characters and worlds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The heroine saves herself in this one — I loved Lily’s arc and the way the conflict in this book centered conversation about women being shamed in society for their sexuality! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I liked the first half, but I loved the second half. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some of my favorite moments: -the dog dress 😂 -“Because I asked you to.” -wearing his tartan -the letter 😭 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: sexual content ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding a kindle displaying the ebook cover of A Scot in the Dark. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/Caub5-trzw9/
