Many thanks to @peacelovebooksxo and @samreadsalittle for recommending my latest read: Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Graeme, the laird of his clan, is forced to marry Eveline, the daughter of the laird of a rival clan. Adding to the complications is the widely held belief that Eveline is “touched” after a terrible accident. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There’s enemies-to-lovers, there’s a protective hero, there’s a fierce heroine, there’s secrets…what more do you want, really?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I loved how this novel unfolded! It would have been really easy to go the miscommunication route with this story and I appreciated that the author decided to go a different way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While this story was at times difficult to read — Eveline is often talked about in the outdated and ableist terms you might expect of a story set in this time period — I found myself unable to put this book down until I knew how it would end! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I can’t speak to the Deaf/HOH representation, but the author does include a note at the end explaining that Eveline’s story is based on her husband’s hearing condition, which I loved. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My only complaint is that I don’t think the cover is as reflective of the characters/story as it could be. 🤷🏻♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: ableism, sexual content ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: A mass market paperback of Never Seduce a Scot lays on a blanket. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CbFgpNNrfV2/
