After liking but not loving The Governess Game, I was a little nervous to start The Wallflower Wager, book three in the Girl Meets Duke series, but I shouldn’t have been. Gabriel and Penny GABRIEL AND PENNY Gabriel and Penny!!!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These two absolute cinnamon rolls were such a delight that I started their story and didn’t put it down until I was done. Gabriel is flipping a property he acquired, HGTV style, and Penelope’s 800 animals are dragging down the property value of the neighborhood. After her Aunt gives Penny an ultimatum, she and Gabe strike up a mutually beneficial agreement that maybe probably definitely has some other benefits. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They both value each other and express that in such a lovely way. Gabe gives Penny the space and support to deal with her past abuse and to reclaim her body and her autonomy. It’s a class difference romance and it’s got our faves from books one and two (Gabe, Ash, and Chase and the goat! #iykyk) and I absolutely loved the way these two work to overcome the obstacles to their happiness with each other’s support. I’m devastated that we have to wait two more years for The Bride Bet, but I know Nicola’s story is going to be so much fun! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: child abuse, sexual abuse, sexual content ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: A kindle displaying the ebook cover of The Wallflower Wager lays on a blanket. I’m reaching out to touch the kindle with one hand and you can see my pink/purple galaxy nails that coordinate with the pinks and purples of the book cover. Because it’s cute. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CbP6f7LLLbH/
