I’m LIVING for all the fantastic historical romance I’ve been recommended lately! Scoundrel of My Heart by Lorraine Heath is the first book in the Once Upon a Dukedom series (I have a review of The Duchess Hunt several posts back). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some things I loved about this book: -my best friend’s brother trope with just a *hint* of enemies to lovers vibes -the hero calling the heroine FRECKLES -1000 thread count angsty pining (shoutout to Yulin Kuang, who recommended The Duchess Hunt and coined this phrase, which I will be using forever) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Kathryn needs to marry someone titled before her twenty fifth birthday, so she enlists the help of her best friend’s brother, Griff, to win over the starchy Duke of Kingsland. In the process, she begins to question if what she’s been working for is really what will bring her happiness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Griff is all “I dream about her hair and would sacrifice everything for her happiness BUT ITS FINE” and agrees to help because he’s a clodhopper but it’s okay because we just want him to be happy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The TWIST of this book was one I 1000% should have seen coming since everything about this book is spoiled in The Duchess Hunt, but I was still shocked and really enjoyed how it played out. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m crossing my fingers for NetGalley approval of the third book in the series, coming out this summer! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: sexual content ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding up a kindle displaying the ebook cover of Scoundrel of My Heart via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/Cbpjeb5rVLm/
