I haven't seen a soul on bookstagram reading or reviewing The Only Black Girls in Town by Brandy Colbert, so my challenge to you is this: if you read middle grade, pick this one up! It's a MG novel that truly captures what it feels like to grow away from and toward people at that age. The simultaneous desire to grow up and the fear of change. It's the perfect prequel to Sarah Dessen. It's got supportive (and LGBTQ+ parents), it's got mystery, it's got ice cream, it's got female friendships... what's not to love?! via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CBdQlrUAsVX/
