In my defense, I didn’t know Talk Bookish To Me by Kate Bromley was a second chance romance because I remember nothing and also don’t pay attention to book synopses. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 🤣 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was eager to pick this one up because I had seen a few different people enjoy it, but I didn’t end up loving it as I’d hoped. There were a lot of things I liked about this book. I liked the banter between Kara and Ryan and Kara and Cristina - it was so natural and so much fun. I liked that Kara was a romance author and bookstagrammer. I liked the way she owns who she is and works to improve her relationship with her mother. I liked the snippets of Kara’s work in progress scattered throughout. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For those reasons, I really wanted to love this book, but there were a couple things holding me back. One is that I felt like Ryan was always poking fun at Kara’s choice of genre, and never really got behind it. The other was a major plot point that I can’t talk about because it would be a spoiler (I’m happy to discuss if you send me a DM!) - by the end of the book, I couldn’t decide what I was rooting for. As I said, I’d love to talk to those who have read the book and see what you thought! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding a paperback copy of Talk Bookish to Me.
