I feel like it’s pretty well established at this point that I am absolute trash for any story with a sunshine/grump trope and WHAT DO YOU KNOW? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle is just what the doctor ordered. Like seriously, one of my favorite romances of the year (and I’ve read a LOT of romance). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Starchy potato” Wesley and dreamer Maybell cross paths when Maybell’s great aunt leaves her house, unexpectedly, to BOTH of them. If this sounds like the beginning of some kind of Lifetime or Hallmark movie, you’re not wrong ๐Ÿ˜‚ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This story is all about finding new beginnings in the most unexpected of places. It’s about being who you are, 100%. It’s got a treasure hunt, a character with anxiety, and a male lead who’s a virgin. It’s got characters who make me SQUEE with absolutely fucking adorableness. The banter aloneee. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I also adored the pacing of this story, which didn’t have the act three catastrophe typical of romance novels. It felt like it reflected these characters, who march to the beat of their own drum, too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to shout from the rooftops about how much I love this book!! What’s the last book you read that made you feel that way? I need to read it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: hoarding, panic attacks, claustrophobia ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: On a white shelf sits a kindle displaying the ebook cover of Twice Shy, and hardwood floor is visible in the background. I’m touching the kindle with one hand and you can see my green manicure, which coordinates with the green accents of the book cover. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CRoesh0LEEQ/
