Life’s too Short is the third book I’ve read by Abby Jimenez, and it might be my favorite to date. Vanessa and Adrian perfectly capture that kind of effortless friendship where your lives fuse together without you realizing it, and I love that so much. Seeing them take their friendship to a relationship was such a natural progression that it didn’t feel like a trope at all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Jimenez came for me (and I’m sure a lot of others) when she wrote Vanessa as both the caretaker slash enabler of a low functioning family, and someone who keeps busy and keeps everyone at arm’s length, maintaining momentum because she feels like if she doesn’t, everything will fall apart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although this story is a romance and therefore ultimately hopeful (to paraphrase the darling Zaf from Take a Hint, Dani Brown: it’s a story about someone who’s been through the worst and found happiness) it does contain a lot of potentially triggering content, so keep an eye out for that! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: drug abuse, hoarding (OCD), parental abandonment, ALS, death of a parent, panic attacks, anxiety, gun violence ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding a kindle displaying the ebook cover of Life’s Too Short against a cream wall. The leaves of a snake plant are visible in the corner of the shot. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CRWXUzELtTK/
