A recent trip out of town took me to an bookstore I’d never been to, and I got to take advantage of my vaccinated status and the nearly empty indie and browse in a way I haven’t since before covid. Even in the before times, I didn’t usually go to a bookstore with a specific purchase in mind: I like to wander the aisles, eyes catching on covers and titles that I recognize from recommendations or booksta, favorite books like old friends waiting to be discovered by new readers, and let the bookstore tell me what I need. This trip, it was a copy of If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio, a title I recognized but an edition I’d never seen before. As I paid, reluctant to go, the cashier slipped the book into a paper bag that said, “eat, sleep, read.” Yep, I thought. Sounds about right. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CNusodbrs-0/
