I love Sarah Kay, and when I discovered that she had recently put out a second poetry collection — her first in many years — I scrambled to get a hold of the audio. The audiobook includes both recording booth and live recordings of Kay performing her work — the way, I think, her poems are meant to be experienced. A Little Daylight Left is magic, the kind that had me at times tripping down memory lane, at others holding hands with my present self, and always listening with my heart in my throat and tears in my eyes. This collection is vulnerable and funny and so beautiful and I highly recommend it. “Look, I have married my cynicism and renewed my vows, but it didn’t stop the streetlights from coming on at the exact moment I passed beneath them, when there was nobody else in the park to see it, like the whole city was winking […] and so lately, I am trying to pick up when the universe calls.” 📸 1: I’m holding up a kindle displaying the ebook cover of A Little Daylight Left. 📸 2: A screenshot of a Sarah Kay tweet from 2017: “No, I don’t think poems will save us.
