I psyched myself out about the idea that Great Big Beautiful Life was somehow going to be a departure for Emily Henry, a book missing her usual sparkle. I don’t know what I was worried about!!! As I’ve come to expect from her, this book was full of atmosphere — her settings feel like characters in their own right — and full of heart. She navigates grief and love in a way I really enjoy and GBBL is no exception. Alice and Hayden are so sweet together (I love how affectionate they are) and shoutout to EmHen for giving us a tall FMC — we exist and like Alice, we are also bemoaning how many short girls date tall men. 🤣 On a more serious note, I loved the plot and the exploration of truth, choices, and how it changes you to bear witness to a story that’s near its end be told from the beginning. EmHen’s books always come out around my birthday and feel like a little gift, so I’m especially happy to say that in spite of the mixed reviews, I really enjoyed it! 📸: a kindle displaying a black and white cover of Great Big Beautiful Life leans against a stack of Emily Henry paperbacks. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/DJUCHJjgNi7/
