Then Came You by Lisa Kleypas is book one in the Gamblers of Craven’s duology, but I am forever reading books out of order — it is what it is. That said, I think reading Dreaming of You first gave me an advantage: I don’t think I would have loved these characters if I hadn’t read book two first! Lily and Derek are survivors, and it’s made them unlikeable. But getting to see where they end up in their relationships and friendships by reading the books out of order was actually helpful for me. Kleypas loves her scoundrels, and Lily runs with the best of them. It was fun to see the typical roles reversed, and I’ll never stop loving seeing chaotic characters ruffle uptight ones. Alex and Lily are true enemies to lovers vibes — no little misunderstandings here! But they grow together in a way that works. Many romance novels involve overlapping characters and storylines, and it’s not always important to read all the books, but I’ll say this: if you’re going to pick up Then Came You, you 100% need to pick up Dreaming of You, too. CW: grief, loss of a loved one, sexual content ID: I’m holding a mass market paperback copy of Then Came You in one hand. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/Cf_1cXGLc7f/
