Thanks to @saturdaybooks for an advance copy of Fallen City by Adrienne Young, out November 4th! Adrienne Young does atmospheric writing like no one else, so I was thrilled when I saw she was coming out with a new fantasy series. This story follows star crossed political pawns determined to build a different world, and in spite of my hatred of dual timelines, I absolutely flew through it! Luca and Maris are drawn together and torn apart: by fate, by the will of the gods, and by their own choices. Their love is at the center of this story, and yet I would describe Fallen City as more of a fantasy than a romantasy. While I was immediately drawn into the mythology of Isara, I struggled at times to connect with the characters emotionally and hope that will improve as the story evolves. This is book one of a larger narrative about power, truth, the cost of war, and the people we become to save the ones we love, and I already can’t wait to see how it ends! 📸: I’m holding up a kindle displa...
