Thanks to @stmartinspress for an advance copy of Ladies in Hating by Alexandra Vasti, out September 23rd! Georgiana, a successful author and prominent character in the other books in the Belvoir’s Library series, crosses paths with a woman from her past while on a quest to unmask her rival. If you like rivals to lovers, Gothic novels, or To Swoon and To Spar by Martha Waters — this one is for you. It was almost shocking to get Georgiana’s POV after rereading Ne’er Duke Well and Earl Crush, since her character feels SO altered from the previous books — and it took me a while to realize that was intentional. There are so few people in the world who see her for who she really is, and that’s a big part of her evolution in this story. The first third was hard to read because both Georgianna and Catroina act like absolute IDIOTS around each other, but they gotta act like idiots *around* each other first in order to be idiots *for* each other later, ya know? I loved Vasti’s note about the real elements that inspired her locales and characters — and her reminder that LGBTQ+ people have always been existed, and are equally deserving of a HEA. Her acknowledgments said this is the last book in the series, but I’m hoping maybeeeee we’ll get a novella for Iris and Will??? We know Vasti loves a novella! 📸: A kindle displaying the ebook cover of Ladies in Hating lays on a cream colored blanket. I’m rewatching out to touch the kindle with one hand. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/DNQYBxjSOdK/
