After reading and loving The Duke Who Didn’t, I was *so* excited to finally pick up The Marquis Who Musn’t by Courtney Milan. Spoiler alert: I loved it. We got to return to the village of Wedgeford, a Chinese and Japanese community (and the setting of book one!) where Naomi is an aspiring EMT with overprotective parents, and Kai, a potter, has just returned and is forced to reconcile his complicated past. As per usual, Courtney Milan deftly navigates the heart squeezing, beautiful, challenging moments of familial and romantic relationships — I cried twice! I loved the history of medicine, con artists, and pottery that felt unique and yet perfectly fit these characters, and I loved the author’s note, where Milan reminds readers that diverse communities have always existed, even in the places you’d least expect to see them represented (like a historical romance set in Victorian England). 📸: I’m holding up a kindle displaying the ebook cover of The Marquis Who Musn’t with one hand. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/C3QAEgbrVEi/
